This test cannot be added on to other testing.

Clinical Info

Lymphocyte proliferation test to Beryllium is a cellular assay used as an aid in diagnosing prior sensitization to Beryllium in the environment. Beryllium-sensitized individuals may remain asymptomatic for extended periods and never develop chronic berylliosis. Clinical, epidemiological, and radiological correlation is required. Bronchoalveolar lavage testing may offer higher sensitivity than whole blood testing where pulmonary disease is suspected.
