Special Info

Parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of acute specimens. Label specimens plainly as 'acute' or 'convalescent.' Contaminated, hemolyzed, or hyperlipemic sera will be rejected. This test is New York DOH approved.

Clinical Info

Used to differentiate between Chlamydophila species (C. psittaci, C. pneumoniae). Differentiate early IgM response to infection from persistent low-level titer. Because of cross-reactivity, a C. pneumoniae-specific reaction will exhibit titers two-fold or greater than C. trachomatis or C. psittaci serology. This has limited value in the diagnosis of most oculogenital (e.g., eyes, genitalia) chlamydial infections.
