Special Info

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) containing gadolinium-based contrast agents are unacceptable. Hemolyzed or xanthochromic samples will be rejected. This test is New York DOH approved.

Clinical Info

Support diagnosis of neurosarcoidosis. May be used to evaluate treatment response. Gadolinium contrast agents have been reported to inhibit angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity. Therefore, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) containing gadolinium-based contrast agents should not be submitted to the laboratory for evaluation.
