The Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) screening method for hemoglobin in stool is the new standard of care for the early detection of blood, which may be associated with colorectal cancer. This collection kit detects blood in the lower GI tract only.

Included in this kit is the following:

– (1) specimen transport tube
– (1) absorbent sheet
– (1) biohazardous specimen transport bag
– (1) prepaid envelope

Additional Information:

Specimens should only be received in a collection & transport device. Do not submit stool in a specimen cup; it will be rejected.

The patient’s first and last name, date of birth, and date of specimen collection must be written on the sample tube in permanent marker.

To ensure the legibility of the written patient information, do not use a pencil or ballpoint pen to write on the tube.  A printed label is preferred.
