Clinical Limitation
Grossly hemolyzed samples, lipemic samples, and samples containing particulate matter or exhibiting obvious microbial contamination will be rejected. Bacterial contamination of samples may affect the test results. Do not heat inactivate serum. Heterophilic antibodies in human serum can react with reagent immunoglobulins, interfering with in vitro immunoassays. Patients routinely exposed to animals or to animal serum products can be prone to this interference and anomalous values may be observed. The assay has not been evaluated in a pediatric population.
