This test is not the anti - Xa assay for heparin measurement. For heparin activity, order heparin anti - Xa assay. 3.2% sodium citrate is the preferred anticoagulant recommended by CLSI.

Clinical Info

To diagnose a bleeding disorder in a patient with a prolonged PT and normal PTT. In addition to congenital Factor X deficiency, low Factor X levels can be seen with coumadin therapy, vitamin K deficiency, liver disease and DIC.
