Clinical Info
Evaluation of nutritional status for hyperalimentation. Levels also reflect the rate of production and excretion of absorbed iron. Increased levels are seen in iron deficiency anemia and late pregnancy. Decreases are seen in cirrhosis, starvation, increased excretion, chronic liver disease, malignancy, infections, uremia and nephrosis.
