Patient preparation: discontinue coumadin therapy for 7 days and heparin therapy for 2 days prior to test, if possible.

Evaluation of DIC or fibrinolytic dysfunction. Many pathologic situations can alter these laboratory parameters. Hemostasis testing is best interpreted in conjunction with clinical information.
